I run a master, slave setup. My master drive is C my Slave drive is D. Now if I do a scan of D drive from the C drive, is that just as effective as scanning the D drive in safe mode?? Make sense??

Safe mode scanning has its pros and its cons, and the strange thing is, is that the pro and con is the same thing: when running in safe mode, Windows is loaded with a minimum of drivers and software. This can make scanning for and removing virus files easier 'cuz they aren't actively running, making removal of their source (or parent) files possible. On the other hand, because the infected processes may not be running in safe mode, a scan may not recognize the parent files because they aren't actively engaging in virus-like behavior, and therefore may not remove them. But this really has nothing to do with your question, does it? ;) If drive D: is data only, then, in theory, scanning it in safe mode or normal mode should be the same. However, malware these days is getting smarter and smarter... I have seen viruses that recognize scanning behavior and then force BSOD crashes before the scan gets to the part of the drive with the infected files; self preservation.... IMO, scans should only be performed in safe mode if scanning in normal mode is completely impossible...
