Hello, I just want to point out before anyone posts about the new Microsoft edge browser still running in task manager after closing down the browser. It is from build 88 and onwards there is new a feature called start-up boost which keeps Microsoft edge running in the background after closing the browser it's to speed up the browser. This feature is good if you a regular user of the Microsoft edge browser but if you are not, you can disable it by going to the 3 dots and settings and search start-up boost and then turn it off.

    Hope this helps.

Chrome exhibits the same behavior so I'm not surprised that Edge, which is based on Chrome, acts the same.

It's all optional but the best way to control this behaviour is to open Edge and type edge://settings/system in the address bar. Turning the background apps off might be helpful on laptops but isn't likely to make any difference on a desktop.
