my old amd 2400 xp died and I dicided to give one of these new Semprons a try after reading some reviews, so far I am very pleased with it. It's a 2800 normally it runs at 2.0ghz, I have it "slightly" overlcocked to 2.128 ghz and it runs without any problems, (I only have the retail heatsink) It benches above a 3000xp not bad for a $120 cpu.

    Nice.

However, half the L2 cache will make it perform under an Xp 3000+, at least in games.

I don't think that half the L2 cache really matters all that much. I was reading a review at anandtech and the 2800 holds it's own against the xp's pretty well- even in games.

For about $140 + or - you could have gotten retail XP 2800 with the bigger L2 cache, and it does make a differance.
You could have gotten OEM for less than your Sempron
Sempron = economy version, I'm not saying it's bad though.

If you OCing probably should get better Heat sink.
I suppose the sempron run's cooler than the XP??

How does that new sempron compair to your Old xp2400??

according to aquamark it's 15% faster I had my 2400 running at 2.1 ghz too, but I had a different m/b and was running it only at 266 fsb not 400 like now.
