WOW...that is WICKEDLY cool!!!! I didn't know you could actually watch it!!!!

I figured since my computer is on ALL the time, I might as well make use of it!! It's not much...just an Athlon XP3000 400fsb w/756mb of ram...but I figured it would be better than nothing!!!!

It will be interesting to follow!!!

Just curious though, Goldey....It doesn't appear to be much of a burden when I'm just surfing or doing e-mail, or other such lite task...but does this thing kind of pause itself when you get to doing some heavy duty computing...or do you have to physically pause it yourself, whenever you feel you'll need the extra power????

Actually, it only uses idle processes. So any application that you run on your computer (IE, outlook, firefox, whatever) will have priority over it. When you start doing processor intensive stuff like games the same thing applies. It will still "mop up" the leftover cylces, and will not affect the performance of your game. The only possible performance hit may be the memory that it uses, but this is very restricted unless you want to run the "big WU"s.

However, if you really feel that its causing your application to run slower, then you can manually pause it yourself. But for the most part this shouldn't be necessary.

 

Welcome to the team. I got folding running on 4 computers at home and my work computer also. All these extra cycles add up to boost us into the top 100.
