I've been with Comcast up till now using their cable modem and a Buffalo Air Station WZR-HP-G300NH with default firmware.

I'm switching to century link and their cable modem arrived today, however it's not just a modem (like the cable modem) but a modem/router. Branded "Century Link" with a model number of PK5001Z (this one http://www.amazon.com/dp/B008O91ZCQ)

I just learned about Reaver's ability to crack WPA via AOSS(WPS), so was finally going to get around to putting Tomato or DD-WRT on my air station, but am unsure how to connect a router to the router.

Also the DSL modem/router is going to cost me $5 or so a month so would appreciate any hardware recommendations to own my own modem outright. Can I just get a DSL modem (no router) or can I bridge the modem/router to my air station and disable all wireless on the modem/router. If yes, how?

well my english is bad so i didn't understand all your question but from what i know you need router if you got more then one computer and if you want wireless.

if you got only 1 pc you can use only modem, but not all the modem got dialers.

if you want to connect anther router to your router you need him to be on different network then your router, and you need to put routing between the two routers (static routs or protocol).

its not hard as it sound, today most of the router got GUI that make most of the things in 2-3 clicks.

    sorry i couldn't help more,
    hope its helped.

So you are asking how to cascade two routers (connect two router), aren't you?

You can connect the LAN Port 1 of your router 1 to the WAN port of the Router 2. But before that you should make sure both routers are in different Class C address.

    Eg: Router 1 address 192.168.1.1

    Router 2 address 192.168.2.1

You can disconnect the wireless in Router/modem

Thanks, yes that is one of the options I think. so thanks for the info. I should be OK as the C addresses are 0 and 11.

As I've been sent a modem/router and am going to pay $5 a month for it I could by one for less, which I'll do but can't see a DSL modem only, does such an animal exist, or is cascading routers the only thing to do?

They make normal just dsl only modems, and then you could hook your current router upto it. Your isp would be the best to suggest a modem for there service.
