Good morning World it's 07.45 here in Belgium and i am just reading the news.

my reason for this post is just to say thank you to all those members who have sent me good wishes after my operation.

the latest update is i get a little better every day the pain is reducing and i do not have to take so many pain killers, the great thing is i can now stand up (not walk) that's a first since the accident,on Monday i am back at the hospital for physiotherapy and hopefully the first steps in my battle to get rid of the wheels.

you have been true inspiration especially the other wheelies on here,(i mean no disrespect in that) i have been stuck in mine now for almost two years and although it was a self inflicted injury(those who read the story know) i have been humbled by some of the people i have met.

in the hospital there is a young guy 13 years he had a spinal defect from birth and has had 11 ops on his back but he is always laughing and joking he is also trying to get out of his chair i suppose what i am saying is that when we start to feel sorry for ourselves we need to give a thought to those less fortunate people who live with this disability their whole life long.

i have learned a very hard lesson in the past months, we all accept our physical condition as normal but boy is that a shock when you can not do the things that were part of your everyday life.

i hope no one interprets this post as seeking absolution or compassion for my faults that's something i will have to live with,it's just to say THANKS to a really great bunch of folk.

Hey Bro glad to see your up on those Pegs again.

Some of life's lessons just give us a glancing blow which we seldom learn much from, then there are others that knock us for a loop, that we remember a lifetime. Sounds like you've had yours, and it has made you a better Humanbeing, and that's a big Plus in my books BILLMCC66. Just keep the faith Bro, and keep moving on even if its just one step at a time.

And Hey your posting in the M.G. Funnies now, so at least we know your "Funny Bone" healed just fineLOL So those legs should be coming along soon.

Wishing you all the best in your recovery. I am not real good at words, but it seems to me you have come a long way already. We learn from our lives. Good and bad, and hopefully, makes us better people.
    Take care

It's great to hear you are making excellent progress after surgery Bill, and you make a very good point. Some times we are so busy focusing on the negative of what we've lost and feeding the "pity party" that all our energy is wasted on that, and not on the positives. Some of you will remember my friend Jacky who had an awful car crash Feb 2006. She left hospital a few months ago (1 year later from admittance), on crutches (when they said she would never walk again) and now she is having a car converted so she can drive again. She will be back at work in September.

Never give up looking for the positive Bill, and most of all....never give up hope :)

Prayers for your full recovery \0/

Good for you Bill, today you stand, next week you'll take baby steps on the rails and maybe run a marathon in a year or two.;) (no offense taken :))

Great news on the road to recovery, Bill! Sometimes it’s a long path, but remaining positive and motivated are the main keys. And so-called 'experts' can be proved wrong. I've living proof to that one, on at least two occasions. Can't honestly say I'm as good as new yet, but hey, I aint dead yet, either, LoL!

Lev, good to hear about Jacky, too! I remember the accident and you talking about it, well.

Good stuff for you both! :)

Bill, so great to see that you've reached physiotherapy stage and that you're now slowly cutting down on painkillers. (Are you doing aquatherapy? So good for the body to adjust without the physical exertion of land exercises...it's also a good lead up to building strength towards land exercises. Check it out.)

You certainly have been through quite a bit so I'm glad the worst is over for you and that now it's a focus on getting stronger and better. Standing up for you must have felt wonderful.

My thoughts and best wishes with you Bill.

    Cheers
