Just want to watch Blu Ray on my Satellite

I have a Toshiba Satellite s875 and I would like to watch Blu Ray movies on it. I looked through the software offered here (Major Geeks) and tried the Toshiba website (exhausting and useless, big company...) and didn't find anything I think would work. Many for burning and converting, but I want to take over the DVD player with a Blu Ray software program just for viewing, not much into ripping or burning, etc. Anything f-r-e-e is what I'm wanting. Thanks!

 

If you have a DVD drive, it will not play Bluray discs. It requires entirely different hardware. There is no software that can overcome this.

 

Oh, okay, thanks! Can I buy a player and install it myself? Doesn't look that difficult, but I've not done it on a laptop.

 

He is correct if you do not have a Blue-ray CD rom drive then you will not be able too play blue-ray DVD's at all.

In my opionion there really is not that much difference be between a regular dvd and a blue-ray disk.And the blue-ray disk does cost more.

 

I agree. I'd just like the option because now I have access to more Blu Rays

Many to choose from! Thanks...but now which one will work for this laptop, which is a P875 not 'S' 875, sorry. Of course, I want the best one, highest read, etc.

 

If you're concerned about compatibility then I would go with an external drive.
