What happened to this police officer is sick, the poor guy could not of been more patient with the killer..I feel so sorry for him and his family. And knowing the killer has been given a death sentence it makes me feel better..

I am amazed that in Country with so many killings and guns that police officers were sent out on their own..

I am sure there si members here who will know about this poor fella..

Watching the video was one of the saddest moments i have had..

I never knew it was 7 years ago..The porr guy was only 2 or 3 weeks into his job..He was a pure rookie. I n the video it shows just how inexperianced he was..He gave the killer to many warnings..Even when the killer got the rifle all the young officer kept saying was put the gun down sir, put the gun down..Even when the officer was shot for the first time you can still hear him say put the gun down..He was terrifyed and the poor kid should of not been on his own..

I don`t know if what happened here recently was due to this tragedy...but here goes. About a month ago a local sherriff`s deputy got a call to a domestic disturbance. Upon arriving he encountered a man, in obvious emotional distress, armed with a handgun. The deputy repeatedly told the man to drop the weapon to no avail, the man was approaching the deputy with the weapon in his hand. So, the deputy put 4 rounds into the man, putting him in intensive care, where upon his release to a regular room he was charged with several felonies. If it were up to me, the deputy would get a medal and the bad guy would get the chair. Those guys for the most part bust thier a** and risk life and limb to protect us. I think they are underpaid, and most certainly under-appreciated. Sure, like any profession there are a few bad apples, but given the dangers they face I applaud them all.

I made a post some time ago about how disgusted I was about the crime occuring in my county and surrounding towns, crimes being committed by young adults (18 and younger)...

Well it hasn't stopped. And I'm even more disgusted. 3 weeks ago 2 people were killed in a 2 day spam, both at football games. On one incident a 23 year old man from my town was beaten in an altercation with a mini baseball bat, was in intensive care for 8 days and later died of head injuries. A 17 and 18 year old from my town were charge and indicted on 2nd degree murder charges and the police reported that the incident was gang related.

The following day of that incident, a 15 year old girl from the neighboring town was stabbed to death at football game. Reading about the incident in the paper I got a very eery feeling. When I read the name of the girl who was killed I realized that this was the same girl I had apprehended at Target when I worked security for them.

So far while living in MD, two people I indirectly came in contact with at my job at Target have been murdered, one 18 (store employee who was fired) and on 15. Both murdered by either 18 year olds or minors.

The youth in this area make me sick.

Sadly these days the youth are totally ucontrolable in many cases..I am unsure what has made the youth of today so violent and selfish, but i can honestly say that when i was a teenager there was nothing like the amount of killings or fighting/violence that there is today..

Bad parenting, lack of social structure, a more cash hungry society, drugs, wars, i suppose they are just a few of the reasons why kids today are so out of control..
ANHED pretty sad story and one that is all to familair these days.

I agree Scouse... I tend to place alot of blame on the parents... These kids don't think their actions will have any consequences... How do you beat someone with a baseball bat and not even once think that you might go prison for a very long time for what you're doing? How do you consciously pull out a knife and stab someone with it and not fear the consequences?

Surprisingly... today in the news was a report that says the U.S. murder rate has reached a 40 year low...
