    Used to shark alarms, particularly when swimming at Manly (which is a damn nuisance as it means that's the day gone for beach surfing). But first time hearing of one getting stranded on the beach as it did today. Marine Rescue moved it to a nearby sea water pool until they decide proper care action;

    So much sea activity going on of late around here...even spotted female and calf whales off Manly heading south which is kinda late for September.

    Shark alarms are common and swimmers/surfers are back in the water soon once clear; but sometimes hours pass so people head for beach cafes or pubs until clear...so we've become a bit complacent...reckon something must be wrong with that shark for getting beached yesterday ...really is a beautiful, sleek looking creature and it is their territory we swim in so they should have our respect.

    Imagine calling the rescued juvenile Great White "Fluffy"?!

    Reckon he'll probably come back with a vengence looking for the culprit who named him that after being laughed out of the gam by the other juveniles!

    Manly Sea Life Sanctuary staff release a great white

    The great white shark that was injured and taken to a Manly ocean pool on Monday has now been released back into the ocean.

    Manly Sea Life Sanctuary staff, working with Fisheries NSW, had been keeping the juvenile shark, named ‘Fluffy’, at the sanctuary overnight to monitor its condition.

    Shortly after midday on Tuesday, the shark was taken to an undisclosed location, beyond Sydney Harbour, to be released.

    Officials hadn’t determined whether or not the shark would be tagged when they departed from the sanctuary.

    “The immediate course of action was to see if it was strong enough to swim away. A couple of attempts were made to put it back in the ocean but it kept washing up on the beach. Apparently, it washed up four or five times.

    “Given the proximity of the pool we thought it was a good place to leave it in the interim while we work out what to do.

    “Obviously a shark of this size and species, it’s not something we can immediately deal with without a bit of preparation time, to see what we’re dealing with."

    That Fairy Bower sea water pool is along a nice walk way to the point while looking out at the ocean, just off Manly Beach. Popular area for joggers, and general sightseeing on route to a small enclosed beach at Fairy Bower where you can BBQ, swim or hang out at the open air cafe.

    Nice spot.
