K7sem sound card problem

I've had this computer now for 2 years with no problems when I went and installed a wireless NIC the sound stopped working correctly. I even went out and bought a cheap sound card and receive the same problem. This machine is just used for playing some games, and going on the net. Sound will play but very low even with amplified speakers, plus is fuzzy and crackles.

Sometimes you have to turn the master volume down in windows to stop the fuzzy crackle in your speakers. The amplifier in teh speakers can't handle the high frequency when the volume in the computer is all the way up.

 

When ECS produced the k7sem it tried to cut corners pretty much everywhere, and that particular board has been very very problematic. I have seen 3 of them go bad in fairly short time in PC's I've repaired. While a sound problem doesn't usually mean a bad MB, if you have tried all the alternatives such as replacing the onboard sound with the card and have your speakers properly adjusted it may be time to look at getting a new MB. Makes sure that once you installed the new card you did disable the onboard sound in the bios. Otherwise it could potentially conflict and cause noise related problems.

 

imho.. do you think the wireless adapter is causing interfereance?? my wirless mouse makes my radio crackle and go fuzy a lot... try taking the wireless card out and try the sound

A wireless lan card is at such a high frequency it shouldn't interfere with a sound card. I wouldn't imagine that would be his problem. But stranger things have happened.
