Kaspersky 6.0 & Sygate 5.5 conflict

I've been happily using Sygate with Norton System Works 2004 and many other programs with no problems. I had enough problems with Nortons itself to give it up and install Kaspersky 6.0 with the result that if both Sygate 5.5 and Kaspersky 6.0 are installed, even if they are both turned off, I get a white screen in my Poptray 3.1 mail previewer, Outlook Express, and IE6.0.

Discussion with Kaspersky tech help and Sygate didn't resolve this problem.
    Kaspersky can't duplicate the problem.

I ran Norton's special automated removal tool. I didn't run the manual one.

I can see at Poptray 3.1 that I have X number of e-mails to download, but they don't ever arrive. If I deinstall either of kaspersky or sygate, I immediately can connect to the internet again. With IE6.0, I don't get the normal screen that indicates a connection problem, it simply stays white, as do Outlook Express and PopTray.

    I'm using XPSP2, Pentium 4, Nvidia Geforce2 MX

    Any ideas?

Are you using the full Kaspersky suite or just the antivirus app? If you are using the full suite, then it is normal for two firewall apps to have issues/problems.:)

I only bought the antivirus program of Kaspersky 6.0. It does seem to have some screening-of-the-internet function, but even when I turn off everything like the e-mail protection, the web protection, take off all the individual port protection, etc. and even when I turn the whole program off altogether and remove it from the start menu, as long as it's installed together with Sygate, I get blank white screens on my internet interfaces.

As I've never used Kaspersky products, I'm sort of at a loss for explanation! Have you tried any other firewalls such as ZoneAlarm to see if you get the same results?:)

Hi NoVice ... ooops .... I mean Novice!
I installed ZoneAlarm and afterwards Kaspersky, and during the installation of Kaspersky, I noticed there was an option to have it check the registry, which I turned off. The two programs are working together and my instinct tells me to go with what works, but I'm still curious if that option may have been the one triggering the conflict with Sygate. Thanks for this suggestion. I chose Kaspersky because it got one of the highest test results of all the antivirus programs. I hate to lose Sygate though. It's a lovely program and I've really enjoyed it very much! I will probably keep working on trying to figure out what's going on. It has the feeling about it of being the result of a setting in the registry somewhere, so that anything I attempt after that is going to be like beating my head against wall.
