Kaspersky

I am having trouble getting Kaspesky removed from my computer. I had it on here about a year ago and I didn't like it so I uninstalled it yet, it remained on my add/remove panel. I have used regedit and removed anything related to Kaspersky. I just got rid of my RAV antivirus after getting some help from here to remove some spyware crap. I installed Avast and when I got it all said and done and avast started, it said the Kaspersky resident scanner or something was running so avast disabled its similar type scanner although, the avast scanner is running in my tray. I went and downloaded the KAV uninstaller and it can't find any traces of KAV on my computer. I also did a windows explorer search and it doesn't seem to find anything on Kaspersky except for the internet stuff I looked up earlier. My question would really be then if there is no Kaspersky on my system, why would Avast find it and if it is there, How can I find it and remove it once and for all and completely? Thanks for your time.

It could be in your c:\windows\downloaded program files folder . Most files here are invisible to explorer.

Make sure you have HijackThis 1.99 and follow the guidelines on where to install it and how to post a log as an attachment. This is all covered in the sticky thread NO HIJACK THIS LOG FILES BEFORE READING THIS: HJT Tutorial & LOG File Posting

Now post a HijackThis log as an attachment to your message (Do not post the log inline). All running programs should be closed, INCLUDING YOUR WEB BROWSER, e-mail. Close before running Hijack This!

To repeat: Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file. Place it in its own folder for example C:\Program Files\HJT
