recently my KDS Rad-7c Moniter started acting odd. by odd i mean wouldnt turn on so i started playing with the plug and it would turn on for a second or two. the shoret time it was on the screen was either all distorted or just the top half of the moniter came on. once it turned off i had to unplug it to get it to turn on again. before it stoped working it had like little gray lines that would run through the picture once and a while. could this be the ac adapter failing/failed?

It sounds like it's a fault with the monitor. I got similar problems with a monitor that had water damage, before it died on me.

do u think buying a new 20-25 dollar adapter would be a waste of money? maybe i should open it up and see if anything is burned up (u no the obvious things)

Opening a monitor is a pain. Plus it's hard to tell what went wrong, even when you have compared it to a normal one. I've tried this a few times. Is this a conventional monitor with a curve screen, or is the screen flat? There is a difference between a flat screen, and an actual flat panel. It's dumb...
If you can get another monitor, as in borrow one, that would be helpfull. Also if you have another video card around somewhere, test that on the monitor acting bad. It couldn't hurt.

ok i opened the moniter and i found what i think is the problem, one of the larger capacitor in the moniter main board is swelled at the top (by the way this is a flat panel LCD moniter). do you think that could cause the whole problem? if so do you know of any place i can send the board to so it can be repaired?

Ha I should have known by the adapter that it was flat panel. A specialist could repair it, but that could be costly. If that thing you mentioned looks swelled in a certian are, unatural to it's original design, it is bad. Something important though: You can't exceed the recommended power ammount. (for instance if your adapter is too powerfull, even if by a little over, it can cause problems. If it is the right adapter, I might suggest either the panel was not assembled very well, or there was a power surge at one point or another (even if the electricity didn't go out). Do you have a warranty?

I'm pretty sure it doesnt have a warrrenty for 4 year AFTER purchase. lol I'm guessing the capacitor just failed from old age. I've already unsoldered it and im waiting for the new one to be delivered. Once it gets here I'll solder in the new one and try it (i hope i can figure out were these screws go )lol The power Adapter is the original one and i did check its voltage and its putting out the right amount.
