Kerio Personal Firewall

Is anyone here savy with KPF?

Kerio has served me greatly for the past few years. I'm a little curious now that its Sunbelt Kerio, and after the upgrade it has crashed my system a few times, but only once was I certain it was Kerio, and it even recognized it was at fault and built a crash report from the windows minidump to send to the kerio developers.

Otherwise, its not a resource hog, does all I need it to do and works very smoothly.. definetly gets my vote.

 

Yeah, I have been using it for a while now and had some questions. I really needed to refer back to some posts i made on the KPF forum last summer, but that forum has been destroyed. I did find a new KPF specific forum though.

I use it and it works great no problems.

 

Here is my problem. I installed KPF4 last summer and had it all configured the way i wanted it, with a lot of great help from a guy on the original KPF forum. Then last month, I removed KPF thinking that maybe Subelt had released a new updated version when it took over. I then learned that they did not change anything other than branding. I neglected to export my cfg file before removing. After I installed the Sunbelt version in advanced mode, I was unable to use my old cfg file, so i lost all of the configuration. (I do still have that original cfg file)

As a result, I installed SKPF in Simple Mode instead. Then i realized that Simple mode is really no better than Windows Firewall, is it? It only blocks incoming traffic?

Yesterday I changed "Any other application" to "Ask" for "Out" and it started asking permissions. Aftyer a few apps asked and were configured, KPF crashed on me. I uninstalled and reinstalled again in Simple Mode.

Any suggestions? Should i stay in Simple Mode or reinstall in Advanced and have some help configuring again? The install option says that KPF can be switched to Advanced mode later - where is this option?

its free and uses next to no resources and no conflicts with other programs. I also have a firewall router
