I'm not sure if this is where I should post or not...but I have a Dell laptop running Windows ME That gives me Kernel32.dll error when I boot in normal mode. I've booted in safe mode and run AdAware & Spybot, to no avail. The actual error reads "Wintask has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL. Wintask will now close. If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer." However, I've restarted apx 9,000 times and it doesn't help. When I hit "close" on that error, I get another error that reads "Exp has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL. Exp will now close. If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer." I'm using my desktop right now, because I am also now unable to connect to the I-Net with the laptop. I get the same message, but instead of "wintask" or "exp", it says "i-net" caused the problem and closes my i-net. I can, however check my email??? As I said, I ran AdAware & Spybot which is all I have on the laptop, but I couldn't get updates, due to the I-net problem - or download any other spyware software. Let's see...I'm running Windows ME - says 28% free system resources (Physical memory available: 130,488KB). I realize it's an older computer, but up until a couple of days ago, it was working just fine - all be it, a little slow. Also, the Task manager says that Msgsrv32 is "not responding" all the time. - On occasion, it will just stop doing anything and give me an error that reads "Pokapoka63 has cuased an error in USER.EXE. Pokapoka63 will now close." When I close that error, I have to reboot, becuase I loose everything including my desktop icons. Crazy computer!
Not even sure where to start. Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Vickie,

    Download WinsockFix here, http://downloads.subratam.org/WinsockFix.zip

Save it on a floppy and then transfer it to the hard disk of the affected computer. Extract the file from the zip and double click it to run it. Hopefully that will solve your internet access problem.

If you are then able to connect, be sure to let us know if that works. Then go to the link below and follow the steps listed. If you think / see that you need help just start a thread in the Spyware Forum and they will help you.

Ran the file. But still get the Kernel32.dll errors on boot
& still get the Iexplore has caused an error in WS2_32.dll. Close that & get an Iexplorer has caused an error in KERNEL32.dll and it appears that about a zillion popups try to come up, but I get the errors on all of them and they just close back out. Nothing actually comes up, just a white screen with the blue bar across the top, I'm assuming they are popups because about 15 of them hit quickly.
    Thanks

Close all programs and Repair Internet Explorer.

    1. Click the Start button, click Settings, and choose Control Panel.

    2. Double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.

    3. Select Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 and Internet Tools in the list.

    4. Click the Add/Remove button.

    5. Select Repair Internet Explorer.

    6. Click the OK button.

    7. Click the Yes button.

    8. Click the Yes button.

Try IE again after the restart.

    Crap!

You defintely have spyware but maybe we can get the laptop online where the Spyware guy's can help you.

Go to Start > Run and type msconfig > click OK.

Choose the Startup tab, scroll down and search for System service63 or pokapoka63.exe and uncheck the box. That might prevent it from loading at startup.

    Restart and try IE again.
