If anyone can please help, it would be greatly appreciated, more than anyone could ever imagine.....you see, my nephew, my Sister's only son is a Sergeant in the Army & is leaving on his second tour of duty next month, (back to those BADLANDS) & her computer is her best contact source with him, without having to pay expensive international long distance fees, especially when she's on a fixed income!
On 09/24/06 while my Sister was surfing the web she encountered:
(& I'm hoping she wrote this information down correctly)
    HTTP 500 Internal Server Error Browser - Stopped - Auto Hdserv.serv_svchost.exe_k_netsvcs (stopped_disable)
    Httpfilter_svchost.exe_k (stopped_manual) then a window:
A problem has been detected & windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. After writing down everything, she immediately shut her computer down, by way of the on/off button. I tried every thing I could think of, I finally got into the BIOS Setup Utility & the Event Log listed: Pre-Boot ERROR: Keyboard not functional, but I'm sure it was, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to use it. Here's the information, including technical information I got when I tried to find out what the problem was. At one point at checking file system on C - type of file system is fat 32. Volume Serial #7B8A - 2FCC - 1951504KB total disk sp - 837114 total allocations on disk.
Her Operating system: Win XP Home Edition - Version 1.0
This error kept coming up: KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR
I tried running the Operating Installation disk thinking I could just recover her whole system back to it's original brand new state, with the following results:
I tried the recovery console options to replace the system files & then I tried to repair the Win XP Installation...
After the Copying of the Setup startup file to the Memory, the options: "PRESS 'ENTER' TO INSTALL, PRESS 'R' FOR RECOVERY or PRESS 'F3' TO QUIT"-
THE BELOW ERROR DISPLAYED ON THE SCREEN - - -
Both items displayed: Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer, make sure and hard disk drives are powered on & properly connected to your computer, & that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer - supplied diagnostic or setup program.
Setup cannot continue. To quit setup, press F3. Windows XP has not repaired.
