Kernel_data_inpage_error

Hope you can help....
I keep getting this blue screen with the "problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
Technical information at the bottom of the message is:

My CD drive is also not working.... I cant load or play a cd....tried all the suggested things but still doesnt work. This lap top is only about a year old.

The first thing I'd do is try a new data cable on the CD drive. If that doesn't do it, and you can't boot to a CD, replacing the drive (even temporarily) may be the only way to know for sure what's going on. If the problem persists with a different CD drive and new cable, then either your OS is messed up, your motherboard is faulty, or you have a bad memory chip. Running an extended in-depth RAM diagnostic can tell you if the memory is OK. Check the Memory downloads here at Major Geeks; I like this one http://www.majorgeeks.com/Microsoft_Windows_Memory_Diagnostic_d3955.html You can create a bootable floppy disk or CD, then press T when you boot to it to run the extended tests, and run at least 3 or 4 passes. If the RAM is OK, then either the mobo is faulty, or the OS is really hosed, but if you can't boot to a CD even with a different drive and different cable, then it's probably the board (maybe the CPU but highly unlikely). When running any diagnostic, be sure to remove all unneeded PCI devices like modems, networks cards, sound cards, and if you have on board video, remove the video card too, just to be sure that none of the cards are at fault.
