keyboard and mouse

    running xp and avg and keyboard misses letters and mouse disappears at times. This happens with plugs at back of computer and also in usb ports at front.

    What's the make and model of the computer? What Service Pack are you running?

    Hi

    Is this a Laptop or Desktop PC?
    What Windows version and Service Pack are you using?

    If a laptop then driver or security applications are the issue, too many security apps installed and need reviewing or update to keyboard driver for PC if the aforementioned are not the cause.

    Keyboard missing letters and mouse pointer disappearing may, or may not be related.

    Have you tried a different keyboard and mouse? Or this keyboard and mouse on another computer?

    Yes i tried another computer and it is similar response.
    It is a desktop.
    Version xp pro and service pack.
    Version 2002 and Service Pack 3

    On these computers, on patch Tuesday, did you by any chance get update KB2862330?

    There are reported issues with this update and people have un-installed it or done a System Restore to a point prior to obtaining this update.

    Microsoft is aware of the issues with the update and have reportedly released a patch.
