    Hey guys!

    I need your help again.

    I was on my other computer;

    Compaq S6000NX
    Win XP PRO SP 2
    256 MB RAM
    40 GB HD

And then I got a little pop-up in the bottom right corner saying something regarding a power surge in my ethernet device. Well it said to restart; but my keyboard and mouse stopped working. I turner the computer off and on again, but the keyboard nor the mouse work; not even at start up. I cannot go into bios or select recovert wizard or anything.

I tried disconnecting my network cable, tried keyboard and mouse one at a time, together, switched their places, but no solution :( .

I would really appreciate any help!

    Thanks!

Is it only the input devices that fail, does your computer boot?
Do the lights on the keypad work?U R not able to go to the bios?
Does your mb have a built in memory writer utility, you might be able to flash a new bios. But the question is can you go into the bios flash mode try alt+F2 or whatever.
(Important:These options will only work if your system has not suffered hardware damages.)

Sorry for not mentioning it; apparently, the USB ports aren't working. The lights on the keypad don't work. I cannot get into BIOS because the keyboard doesn't work. I don't know about the built in memory, but I can't access it because them because the keyboard won't work.

    Thanks!

Sorry for not clarifying: my mouse and keyboard are PS/2.

    I've tried a USB mouse, no good :( .

    Still need help!

    Thanks!

I hate to say this, but you might have fried your USB/PS2 ports, that power surge most likely toasted the ports. See if the mouse and keyboard work on anothe comp, if they do it is my bet it is fried ports. I'm sorry to say that, but that is how it reads out to me.

I guess the first thing would be to borrow a PS/2 mouse and keyboard from someone to eliminate them as the problem.

Yeah, or try them on a different computer, like jowolf said.

Well I tried another keyboard and mouse but it didn't work.

I took an extended plan on the warranty, and have about 2 1/2 years left on it.

I'm surprised that it screwed up so fast; just bought in late December.

    Thanks for your help guys!

If you have any suggestions, please do post them here!

    Thanks!
