I have an HP a6340.be the (.be) just stands for Belgium version it means that it has an AZERTY keyboard.

this morning when i tried to open one of my disk drives (i have 2 buttons on the keyboard for these) it would not open from the keyboard.

now i have been having a problem for a while in that the number 1 button should open the DVD read/write and the number 2 is for the DVD/CD read only but about 10 days ago the number 1 stopped working and the number 2 opened the R/W disk now both have stopped working, i can only open them by the buttons on the front of the tower.

i have considered using the repair function but even though i have a full backup do not want to go this route unless it is absolutely necessary so any ideas would be great fully received thanks.

I am getting a little suspicious now my admin privileges have been blocked and that suggests malware so maybe i will do the malware removal just in case and see what it throws up.

no idea where that came from?

    thanks for the input chaimjm
