Keyboard Stops Responding

Hello all!

I've been having this very frustrating problem for some time now and I hope someone can assist me.

There's no way of telling when, but at random times my keyboard will just stop working. Sometimes it will be perfectly fine for a few days and then go out but then other times (like for the past day or so) it might go out several times in an hour or so. When this happens, the keyboard Num Lock indicator light always stays lit and a reboot always gets it working again.

I've tried three different keyboards that were all PS/2 but the problem still occurs on each. Unfortunately, I don't have access to or can afford to purchase a USB keyboard at this time. If I were able to definitely determine this to be the problem, then I would get one.

Disconnecting and reconnecting the keyboard while the system is running doesn't work, I've tried. I've also uninstalled/reinstalled the keyboard and attempted to update the drivers in Device Manager with no result. However, like I mentioned, a reboot always brings it back and the light on the keyboard always stays on.

Here are my system specs:

Biostar P4M900-M4 mobo (less than six months old)
Intel Pentium 4 2.53 Ghz Northwood processor
2 GB PC5700 RAM (less than six months old)
Nvidia GeForce GS7300 video card
Onboard 5.1 audio
Dual hard drives and DVD R/RW drive

So that's pretty much it. Please help! I'm at my wit's end with this! Thanks!

1. Disconnecting a PS/2 keyboard while the computer is on is not a good idea as it will prevent the keyboard from working again once it is plugged back in.

2. This sounds like a motherboard fault. A USB keyboard should only cost about £2 from somewhere like ebay.
