Keyboard Virus?

Some of my keyboard keys are not functioning properly. At present, for example, when in a text editing application, the 'b' key does nothing (no text appears), the 'd' & 'm' keys minimizes the application, 'e' key opens My Computer, 'f' key opens Search Results, and 'l' key opens the log off screen. I have not tested all the keys in fear that something really bad will happen if I do. The keys react the same when other applications are open. My keyboard has a ps/2 connection. I downloaded and installed new driver software for the model number listed on the back of the keyboard. I also disconnected the keyboard and connected another usb keyboard. Before finding this forum, I ran various scans including an Avast (my antivirus software) scan and Spybot Search & Destroy scan. I also did a System Restore to the day before it started acting this way (two days ago). All the things that I have tried did not fix the problem. I have followed the Rules and Guidelines for this Forum and have attached the logs. If this is not a virus what else could it be?

You need to attach the C:\MGLogs.zip from running the C:\MGTools.exe. However, this does not sound like a malware issue. After I check your log, we may have to send you to the software forum.

    I don't know how I forgot the MGlogs.zip.

Since yesterday I had someone tell me the keyboard problem may have something to do with the windows key. He said people that use it often and/or use it with remote access, have had trouble with it sticking (the software, not the hardware). As I mentioned I had the same problem with a ps/2 keyboard, USB keyboard, and also with the on-screen keyboard. All of the keyboards were acting as if the windows key was pressed while I was typing normally. He had me press the windows key several times, which had fixed the problem, at least for now. Apparently, for some, this is only a temporary fix. The question is, if this is caused because of using remote access, which I do not use, is it possible that someone is hacking into my PC, using remote access, using the windows key, and causing it to malfunction, or am I just getting too paranoid? I would really like to know why the keyboard software was malfunctioning to begin with. Was it because of extended use/age of the computer or was some male ware involved.

OK, I was wrong about the keyboard working again. I was told from someone outside of this forum that if I press the Windows key several times it would fix the glitch, however, after doing this and at first discoving that this worked, I have scince noticed that other buttons on the keyboard such as the pause button, are not functioning properly either and opens the search pane while I'm in Windows Exlporer/My Documents. Also, there seems to be a connection between my keyboard glitch and the ability for someone else to print to a printer connected to my computer and a printer connected to his own computer. In other words, when both computers and printers are first booted up, all printers and printer sharing work fine. However, If I type a key or press a button with a glitch, he is no longer able to print to my computer or his own computer until we both reboot again. I have also just discovered that after my last re-boot, the original computer glitch of the widow key acting as if it is stuck came back. I should note that there has been no new changes to his or my computers or printers recently that I can think of that would cause these things to start happening.

    Thanks for your help,

I believe those files are Sketchup backup files that Sketchup automatically generates, but I do not know why they are in that location. I think Sketchup normally places the backup files in the folder that the regular sketchup file (.skp) is in.

I will uninstall the Java files, reboot, install Java Runtime 6, and then get back to you on the progress.

I think you will need to post in the software forum for this issue as it is not a malware problem. Perhaps someone there will be able to help you with that.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. We recommend you keep SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware. Unless you purchase them, they provide no real time protection. They do not use any significant amount of resources ( except a little disk space ) until you run a scan.We recommend them for doing backup scans when you suspect a malware infection.
    2. If we had you use ComboFix, uninstall ComboFix (This uninstall will only work as written if you installed ComboFix on your Desktop like we requested.)
      • Click START then RUN and enter the below into the run box and then click OK. Note the quotes are required
      • "%userprofile%\Desktop\combofix" /uninstall
        • Notes: The space between the combofix" and the /uninstall, it must be there.
        • This will uninstall ComboFix and also reset hidden files and folders settings back to Windows defaults.

    3. Go back to step 6 of the READ ME and renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it.
    4. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    5. If we had you download any registry patches like fixme.reg or fixWLK.reg (or any others), you can delete these files now.
    6. If running Vista, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    7. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis.
    8. Goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    9. If you are running Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below:
      • Refer to the cleaning procedures pointed to by step 7 of the READ ME
for your Window version and see the instructions to Disable System Restore which will flush your Restore Points.
      • Then reboot and Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

    10. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
