Logitech LX 700 keyboard on Mother in laws PC will not connect the mouse is fine
After taking care of and ridding PC of over 700 threats her keyboard will not type she did have a keylogger trojan
We spoke with logitech for over an hour and they claim a dll is missing
We asked if they could provide us with a clue as to which one and they couldn't and told us to call microsoft LOL so here I am asking for some insight or shall I just for the sake of it reformat and do a clean install
I am at my wits end with her and am not wanting to do the clean install for a dll and get this she can't find her xp discs :cry
Thanks in advance for the help waiting with sledge hammer in hand

Assuming that you have good batteries installed, turn the Keyboard over and locate the small reset/connect button on the back of the keyboard and press it. Then try to see if it is working. If not try pressing the button on the receiver and then on the keyboard. Try typing, should work okay.
    Hope this helps.

If not here is the site for drivers.

Thanks but we did all the driver updates and it still does not respond
The tech told us a dll is missing but trying to figure out which is our needle in a haystack seems the keyboard is not detected on startup

Is the keyboard PS/2 or USB?
Sometimes USB keyboards have a hard time getting recognized.
I apologize in advance if what I mention has been tried thru logitech support. Have you gone into the BIOS and made sure that the proper keyboard is enabled?

As a troubleshooting technique, just grab a keyboard from another computer to see if it gets recognized. An easy fix, rather than wiping and a clean install might be to just replace the keyboard, if you can get another one to work.

Did the techs give you a clue as to what type of dll was missing: logitech or windows? If logitech, reinstalling the software might fix it. If windows, I'm sure any windows disk of the same type (home or pro) could be used to to a system file check and replace the missing dll.

    Here's the setpoint software http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/433/3027&cl=us,en?osid=1

I'm reading through the support forum at Logitech and this version of setpoint might work better than the one I linked to for model LX 700
    Code:
    ftp://ftp.logitech.com/pub/techsupport/mouse/setpoint400.exe

We have twp options with the keyboard either usb or ps2 we have tried both to no avail
As for the dll I did install the one in question and nothing then I followed another persons instructions in editing the registry and adding a string but that did not work
I then called logitech again and they said something to the sort of the svc host is not recognizing the keyboard?
I will try your software and then try a fix for the disc to see if I can do a repair if this works I am celebrating with a nice MARGARITA!!!!
Would you be so kind as to instruct me on the disc repair it would be appreciated as its been awhile for me to do such a thing

Go to run, type cmd in the box, at the prompt type sfc /scannow
You might be asked for a windows CD. This replaces and repairs any windows system files that might not be correct.

Thanks again I tried this and it did not help so I investigated further into the system configuration and error files and was not surprised to see this issue has been going on for quite sometime
I went ahead and did a clean install and will be updating with SPs she will then have to reload the data rolleyes
Thanks to everyone who looked into this and for those who helped me Thank you so very much I hope I can return the favor
