    Hello all
I am working on a Gateway Mseries notebook (SA6)
keys were missing on the keyboard , so I ordered a new one!
After 2 weeks it showed up , and now the spacebar inputs /.v when pressed in the middle section of the key , works fine if touched on left side or right side of the key ...any ideas?

If the rest of the keys work, you may have received a defective keyboard. I'd contact the place you purchased it from and inquire about exchanging it for a good one.

    Hope this helps. :)

I would verify it really is the notebook keyboard by connecting an external keyboard and/or using Windows' built-in On-Screen Keyboard. If correct there, it's the notebook keyboard. Though it looks pretty certain it is your keyboard by your comments about it only messes up when the space bar is pressed in the middle of the bar, and not the ends - those steps would verify it.

I would also take it apart again and make sure no wires were pinched or crimped, all the connectors are securely fastened, nothing else was knocked loose, and nothing foreign or out of place is under the keyboard. Also, depending on how your keyboard mounts, make sure you apply even pressure all around when securing it. Like tightening lugs nuts on a wheel, you go back and forth, back and forth and not around the circle.

Finally, since it appears you are stuck with that keyboard regardless, if you decide you cannot live with it as it is, you might see if you can pop the space bar key-cap off and see if maybe a return spring or tension-lever got knocked loose or out of alignment during transport. Depending on how the caps are attached (permanent or not), you may not be able to get it to snap back in place, so this is something I might try before tossing the keyboard in the trash bin. :(
