Keylogger (personal use)

my son recently went away to college.... and i want to monitor what he is doing. i installed a program monitor, so i can see what he does and for how long, but my wife wants me to install a keylogger. (she claims its to see his papers, but i think she really wants to keep tabs on his social life.) needless to say, i have to do it. now, i cant exactly manually install it (hes in NYC im in Cali) but i dont want him to know its there.
basically, i need a keylogger (preferably free) that i can send to my son to monitor him with. i need something that he wont notice, and that i can collect the log to over the internet (that would be a nice feature but i could manually collect it in several months). if i sent him a program, i am sure he would run it, but i need to make sure that he wouldnt know its a keylogger.
any suggestions?

 

No one here should help you with this, as this is highly illegal. Why?

You'd be invading his privacy immensely, possibly obtain sensitive information, etc.

I suggest NOT doing this.

 

Keep in mind all keyloggers will be detected by most antivirus and antispyware programs because of it's actions. It's getting harder for these to work because they can be detetect by such applications.

It's up to you whether you do this or not but you will need thr computer so you can install it. I dont know of anything you can send and do this.

 

Since your son is in college, I'm assuming he is over 18. What you want to do is quite illegal in both NY and CA, probably even a federal violation since you're crossing state lines. Your son wouldn't, but his college could press charges if they are providing the internet access. It would also be extremely damaging to your relatioship with him when he found out - make no mistake, he would. You would be hard pressed to live down that kind of betrayal.

 

If it's so illegal why does MajorGeeks have keyloggers that you can download.

If you son knows anything about computers he is going to put a anti-virus on his computer thus not allowing you to monitor what he is doing.

Why? His son is a legal adult with all the rights and legal protections thereof. This individual has no more right to put a keylogger on his son's computer than you do to put one on my computer. You can put a keylogger on your own computer and you can monitor any children you have legal guardianship over.

 

I think you'll just have to tell your wife little Billy is all grown up, and that you can't spy on him anymore. He is in college. Why in the hell would you want to spy on him for?

 

I don't know alot about the legal not legal ect. but tell your wife from one mother of a 18 year old college student to another if you really want to know and I said "really" ask him and if you have any kind of relationship with your son he will tell you but be prepared because you probably don't "really"
want to know the details but if you spy on him you will violate something that you will never, never beable to replace so be very careful where you tread and he will know. By the way this is my second time down this road ask
I even know what brand of condoms he uses but if you "really want to know be prepared don't be shocked."
