I have a computer that we use for networking and the kids. I did find a Trojan.Exploit.JS.B and also some other stuff found by Panda Activescan. Can anyone help to see why this computer is running so slow and will restart on it's own?

I went through the malware removal guide and am attaching the files

    Hi WSMitty!

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

I can already see that you are running both McAfee and Nortons. Please deinstall one of these. Both are bulky and together they not only slow down your computer, but they begin to recognize each other as something which needs to be gotten out of the computer! This is very bad for any computer.

Also, you did not rename your HijackThis.exe file to analyse.exe, although you did get it into the correct folder. Please go to C:/Program Files/HijackThis/ and in that folder, find HijackThis.exe and rename it to analyse.exe. Then rerun it and post the new log.

Also, I'm missing the counterspy log if it found anything as well so you'll need to post:

Counterspy (or AVG Antispyware if you couldn't run Counterspy)
    Hijackthis

Ok. Here is my counterspy and Hijackthis log. Sorry it has taken me so long.

    Hi wsmitty!
I had quite given up on you. :)
Please choose to run either Norton or McAfee, but not both! It is very bad to have two antivirus programs running at the same time, because they try to kill each other. One of them MUST be uninstalled before you do anything else! If you decide to uninstall Nortons, please go to this page http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads29.html and download the Norton Removal Tool and uninstall it that way. McAfee can be uninstalled via add/remove programs. Make sure you turn off the antivirus program (disable it by right-clicking on the icon in the lower right hand corner and disable it, if that's an option), before you uninstall it.

Let me know when you've completed this. Either program is extensive and fine, however, if you uninstall both of these programs, you can put something lighter on your children's computer, like Avast or AVG, which will not slow them down as much.

    Hi WSMitty!

    1) Please go to STEP 1 of the READ & RUN ME FIRST and follow the instructions for REMOVING FILES FROM NORTON ANTIVIRUS. After you do that, continue in step 1 with CCLEANER. Please do not leave out either of these two steps.

    2) If you do not use Windows Messenger (not to be confused with MSN Messenger!!) I would like you to run Disable/Remove Windows Messenger

    3) Please look in Add/Remove Programs for the following and uninstall them if found. If you get any errors just make a note and proceed.

Then delete the below folders which may be left behind by the uninstall:

    C:\Documents and Settings\bill\Application Data\Sunbelt Software
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sunbelt Software
    C:\Program Files\Sunbelt Software

I can't see signs of malware issues. Norton's has quarantined some viruses it found and that is what shows up in your BitDefender log. To get rid of the adware cookies, please keep CCleaner on your desktop and run it regularly after you've been surfing. It will delete all your cookies and temporary files which bog computers down.

You did not run HijackThis according to our instructions. It should be run under the changed name of analyse.exe. You can go back and do this if you want to. Go to Program Files and the HijackThis folder and change the name of hijackthis.exe to analyse.exe and rerun it with a new log. However, I don't think you have malware. I think the slowness you are experience is from having two antivirus programs running at the same time. Also, you need to have a firewall if you do not. The Windows firewall is not adequate.

After you've done the above two steps, please read How to Protect yourself from malware!

If you have further problems like those you described with the computer restarting itself and being sluggish, please visit our hardware forum as the next step. Things to look for when the computer is restarting itself are
dust, ram, overheating, power supply, too many start-up items.
