KK problems.

n00b here - totally. Upgraded to 9.10. Add/remove is now software centre!
Got a jolt, as Add/Remove was some thing I'd gotten used to seeing in the last five days LOL.
At least Clamav is showing signatures now, last time had a check mark, but no sigs!! Got to get firestarter configured. Paranoid Win user :-D
Seems I'll have to connect via Ethernet to fix and configure, on wireless as of now. Also compiz look like nice.
Two screen shots. Clam's engine is outdated as is the GUI.
sudo freshclam does not upgrade/date. What's the fix.

But I have to say, the last five days have been totally interesting being on Ubuntu

just general advice. I think the apt-get command in a console works better than add/remove.

just type a command like this
sudo apt-get install opera
to install opera or to install openoffice
sudo apt-get install openoffice

System> Administration> Synaptic is an alternative to Software Center

There is a GUI for Firewall

You are running Clam .95.2 and there is a newer version available on your system 95.3 Update or reinstall may solve Clam

I have been using Softwarer Centre, Synaptic and terminal to set up the Lappy.
Feeling rather geeky when on terminal :-D
Will fix Clams engine today.
I'm pretty sure I uninstalled it completely. But I think Its got picked up again from the repository. There was an option to remove completely. Not sure where I was doing this from SC or Synaptic!! Been a few days since I tried to fix it, as all the definitions are current.
This LT had Win 7 Rc on it. Gonna stick with KK now

Edit to add: Any app one can use to re-size images. Gimp is giving me a head ache. Need some thing like Irfan view to reduce file size.
