Please Help! My computer crashes a few minutes into playing any game on my system? I have reloaded my operating system, updated to the latest video drivers and latest bios update. And my computer still crashes. I even pulled out the video card and ram and reseated both. Hard drive Maxtor 160GB SATA
    Onboard Sound
    OS windows xp
    1GB ram ddr 333

I am having the same problem on my laptop. My problem started in December after Christmas. Maybe it's a problem with an update?

I thought it had to do with an update either windows or a driver update. so reinstalled xp with only sp1 (not sp2) and the problem was still there. I have a feeling it might be a hardware issue, but dont know which either mobo, video card, or ram. I am hoping some one might have a solution to this problem.

Is there any way to see what updates your computer had?

Thanks for trying to help PStand, but I figured out my problem. What happened was that I had overclocked my processor from a 2.8ghz to 3.2ghz back in late november. I did not have a problem playing ut2004 and Doom 3 when my computer was overclocked. When I purchased Battle for Middle Earth thats when my computer would restart. So I tried BF vietam, and Farcry (which I think I had stop playing before I overclocked my computer) the computer would restart with these games. So last nite I ran my computer at 2.8ghz Normal clockspeed, left BF Vietnam running overnite. The computer did not restart or freeze. I guess I solved my problem. I just did not realize that some games can play with my processor overclocked and some cannot.
