    Hi All,

I am up and running with Roku 2 now, first time user. It's a great deal, and although I don't watch a lot of TV shows or movies, I now have the option, even if it's just to have it on in the background. The best thing for me has been "not" having to use my laptop to stream Netflix, etc.

I ran across the info on the Firefox for Android, to use my phone to send videos to my Roku. That sounded good, then I ran into info on something called Plex, which would cost me money, so I looked for some free alternatives, and found Kodi, plus, several others.

I am wondering if folks are using Kodi to replace the the apps that come with Roku, like Netflix etc.? There are about 5 TV shows on Netflix I like, but that's all. I like the Channels I've found on Roku like Dove, PBS, SnagFilms, Nautilus Live. There are a lot more I haven't even seen yet, but I do like the option of being able to find my own things online, and play them through Roku.

For an example, I found a website called Classicmovielist, and I would like to be able to watch some of those movies. That's not compatible with Firefox for Android though, so I can't watch it on Roku. All the sites that you can watch through Firefox come up with a "send to Roku" (something like that).

I hope this makes sense as I am just learning about it. I want to have both options, play some of my "own" picks, and still have the Netflix/Dove/Nautilus Live options as well.

    Thanks for any info:)

Well... I Am kind on the same side... Many year ago (back in my former country I remember watching tv for free - OTA), here I have to pay for every thing including TV, that is why I rely in Satellite TV and now experimenting with Kodi and some of the Add0ns created for it; for now I had been doing with my computer with some exit with the lists that you can find for tons with the help of google, the problem here is if those lists work and with a little Android box, I can compare my little box with Roku (either 1, 2, 3 or the stick). I have a friend that pays 30 monthly bucks for a service that gives her the opportunity to watch what she wants (TV from Spain, mostly) with her Roku 3; some jailbroke their Apple boxes just to avoid the hasle of geo something...so they can watch through Hulu.
So, you cand download some of the Kodi addons from their site and experiment with them, it is kind of easy, but you have to play with them to find the right combination for you and no get overloaded with addons that could make hard for you to find what you want to watch, with the help of google and the how toos from kodi site you can add and delete easily any addon, I do not remember right now the way of doing that with roku, but you can start with your computer and them move to your roku, it is fun but time comsuming, I will try to keep tracking of this post so I can jump in if I know something that you need.

Thanks Chap:) I appreciated your info. One thing I want to watch out for is the websites that are not legally uploading movies, or TV Shows. I'm not sure how to tell which ones are or aren't. Maybe someone will see this post and know the answer to that one.

I don't have satellite or cable, I just bought the Wifi only, thus, the Roku. I had first heard about Tevo (I think that's the name). Chromecast is another?? Anyway, Roku had more options I liked so I decided on it. Netflix has the best TV Shows, as far as a channel, and I pay for that as I'm sure you know. I will dig a little deeper into Kodi today, and also look at it's addons, etc.

Thanks again, and maybe talk to you later:)
