I've been feeling my computer's buggy for years now. It seems like no amount of formatting over and over again solves the virus problems.
Using my brand new McAffee SecurityCenter, I tell the firewall to run a test on my firewall.
I've found all sorts of ports, appearing to be normal, but I also found this:

    Port 17300 Information
    Kuang2 The Virus
    XXX

Does anybody know anything about this virus? So far, none of my anti-viruses have found such a thing. How can I remove this parasite from my computer and finally live blissfully, w/o having to format my computer ever month?

    Welcome to Majorgeeks!

You should only be using one antivirus application. You implied you had more than one.

See the below links for more info on this:

    http://us.mcafee.com/virusInfo/default.asp?id=description&virus_k=100282

    http://isc.sans.org/port_details.php?port=17300

Are you saying that McAfee reported an actual infection or did it just say this port was open? McAfee supposedly fixes this. If not, you should ask them why since you just purchased it. They even say they fix it in the above link. However, as I stated above, you MUST only have one antivirus installed or you could make any of them ineffective. In addition, installing any antivirus program while another is already installed can cause a bad installation and some feature may never work. You can even break Windows Security Center's ability to detect whether an anitvirus/firewall is even installed.

    Sorry for the misunderstanding *blush*
I used to have Norton but I recently switched to McAffee.
And thanks for the advice, I'll check it out soon!

Hopefully you completely uninstalled Norton/Symantec before installing McAfee. If not, my message still applies and there is about a 85% chance you still have stuff from Symantec running. Uninstalling Symantec is almost as bad as removing malware..

My computer went through another formatting before installing McAffee, so I hope there shouldn't be any remaints.
I understand nada about port activity. Were my results unusual?
And again, kudos for the help chaslang :)
