    Hey everyone.
Have a big problem with my lacie d2 120 gig hard drive.
Turned on my dell one day and the thing frooze, so i restarted it and when i tried to open up my external drive the computer wont allow me.
So i plugged the hard drive into my apple to see if i lost everything, but when i opened it on the mac no files were visable but the amount of memory taken by my files was still taken up leading me to believe the files are still there.
Now when i plug it into the Dell it tells me at start up that it has some consistency problems and needs to check for it. while checking it says something along the lines of "checking orphan file...unable to recover file due to not enough diskspace/memory" and now the extrenal folder i name "M" is now back to external "E".
I know this is long winded and probly not to clear, but can ANYONE help me out?! o need to open it back up. :(

    Thanks

Right well it's unlikely that the files would show on a mac because they're different O/S!!!
You could try hooking it up to another PC not a mac and setting it as a slave. It sounds as though some files have gotten corrupt somewhere so you should back up all you need pretty soon.
Then format and reinstall, should be ok.

No the files were video files so they were interchangeable with the dell and mac.
I havent tried hooking ti up to another pc, so i'll give that a go.
How do i set it up as a slave?
Its about 64 gigs of files and i just need to open it to get them out and back them up on dvd.
    Thanks though.

The vid files should be interchangeable but the file system that your drive is formatted in inst neccessarily.

    Exactly.

You should be able to change the jumpers on your harddrive, should be a label on the top that says what is what.
