    Hi all,

    I got this major problem. Just bought myself a new computer with the following components;

    Video Graphics
    AMD Radeon HD3650
    512 MB DDR2 memory

    Base processor
    Phenom-9550 (A) 2.2 GHz (95W)
    2000 MHz HyperTransport 1.0

    and with 4 GB 800mhz ram.

    I´m running it with on XP with a modified directX 10. Also tried DirectC 9.0c.

    The problem is that all games I try runs great on lower resolution and with antialiasing and co off but starts to lag to death at 1920x1080 resolution and with the antialiasing & co on. I´ve updated all drivers and still not better.

    What can cause this? :cry

    Could well be low RAM. A lot of the newer games are RAM hungry. 512MB is just what the company installs. Every program running at the time comes in for their share. Install another stick of RAM. Also, is the game an online game or just being played locally on your machine only? If just on your machine, turn off AV,firewall, and all antispyware while playing to free up some extra. Just remember to turn back on before going back online.
    Just reread and see you have 4GB RAM already. Try cutting back on the resolution.

    Hi

    As mentioned try a lower resolution, maybe 1680x1050, also make sure as many un-needed background processes/applications are closed.

    Try disabling vertical sync from the ATI control panel if available.

    What kind of graphics card do you have? With my pc, I installed Windows Vista with my existing card, and had the "lag" problem...my pc told me I needed to turn on "graphics acceleration", which I did, but no change. I finally bought a new graphics card with higher speed, better specs, etc...not too expensive. Installed it and all is working well! Just some thoughts! Good luck!:)Shanrene

    Simpy because your graphics card cannot handle the 1920x1080 resolution.
    If you're expecting to play games on all maxed out settings then buy a top of the range graphics card.

    But the AMD Radeon HD3650 that you have is still a good card, just don't expect to play all games on high settings and max resolution, but u should be fine playing on 1024x768 with AA and all settings high ;)

    Hi Guys; Thanks for all you answers!

    To hrlow2;
    Yeah, well, I don´t even use up half the Ram when running a prog. The Darn resolution... I just bought myself a fullhd samsung 40" and was really looking forward to play gamed in full HD.
    I guess I have to player on lower res then. :( But it´s strange thou; ATi´s homepage says that you can play "beyond 1080i"

    To Halo
    "Try disabling vertical sync from the ATI control panel if available."
    That sounds like something... I´ll look it up :)

    To shanrene123
    I´m running a Radeon HD3650 with 512 MB.

    To Dacads
    Well, if you read on ATI´s homepage; it says that this card is a HD-Card :S. So, I don´t get why I can´t play on full hd res...

    Here is a link to Crucial. HERE= www.crucial.com they have a scanner to scan youre PC you just press scan@appropriate place it will give you a read out........

    4GB of RAM is fine. Your bottle neck here is your graphics card. Its a very nice card however it will not play most modern games at 1920x1080. In reference to product page you linked to, it says 1080P support for HD Video content like Blu-Ray not games specifically. Also remember 720P is also HD and that is at a resolution of 720x1280 so if you bump the resolution down a notch, you're still gaming in HD. Different games require different amounts of power from your graphics card to run them at max settings, so you're going to see different results based on how old the game is and what graphics features it has.

    She has 4GB installed. The 512MB you're talking about are on the graphics card, and that card, while good, is not a gaming beast.

    To maximus relaximus;

    Thanks for the tip! I will try that program!
    But What I´ve realized is that I need to somehow configure my ATI Catalyst (the graphics card program) for the best gaming performance... I´ve seen that small changes in the specs can make big changes in the gameing performance. I´m all out of ideas thou.. Do you guys know any place on the net or any progs that/where you can have you graphic card performance optimized?

    and btw, 512 ram is only the cards memory.. Got 4 otherwise.

    To OverCooked;

    The darn card... It won´t even play GTA IV on 1024x768 with fair quality... And you say it´s a nice card... What is it nice for? hehe...
    I´m having plans on buying a new card... What would you all recommend costing under 200$?

    To Mimsy;

    That´s right = )

    I use nVidia cards, so don't know much about ATI tweaking, but my laptop's graphics drivers came with an ATI Control Panel. If you have one of those, open it up and look for the settings for gaming vs video and other stuff.

    Your card is nice for movies, photos, and editing of both. As I recall, a few years ago that was what ATI was really good at, while nVidia were the ones good for gaming. May have changed now though... I don't pay attention to that very much since I like my nVidia cards and as long as they work, why switch?

    There's two cards I like right at the $200 mark that I like. Both are killer cards and would eat up any game you throw at it. Shop around from prices and look for deals too. Newegg was the first place I went to, but you might be able to find it cheaper elsewhere.

    Radeon HD 4870 - $179 after rebate Link

    I prefer 3btech.net myself, with a handful of exceptions.

    ATI's problem is that nVidia writes it's software specifically so it can handle games, infact the latest forceware includes specific settings for individual games, so you can turn things on and off by program. ATI doesn't have that to my knowledge.
