Although both games are a few years old, the computer is as well, and the graphics card is not one that was initially designed for gaming. That said, from what you describe you can play the game, but with lag, so it's very possible that you simply need more memory. 1GB is enough for Windows XP, but if you want to play games, it will make it a lot easier for your computer if you give it more to work with.

I noticed you're on India Standard time, so I assume you're in India? I don't know what online shops you have access to, but this is a good starting point: Crucial Scanner

Their program will scan your computer, show you what's in there already (one or two sticks?), and what type of memory the computer takes. You don't have to buy from them, you can shop around for parts once you know what you need. And if you have any questions about it, you can always come back here and we'll help you out some more. :)

That definitely makes sense. You can try a program like Game Booster that shuts down all unnecessary processes (make sure to tell it not to touch your antivirus if you're going to be online!), that will free up resources for you. Also look at this guide on how to clean up and maintain your computer to make it run smoother.
