LAN Adapter Config Issue?

Good day M.G.'s - I'm running XP Pro on an IBM Thinkpad. Upon startup I'm immediately seeing the message "PXE-EO5 The LAN Adapter configuration is corrupted or has not been initialized. Boot Agent cannot continue". System then goes on to start normally and I use a Wireless Card to connect, but no Ethernet. It's an Intel 8255x-based PCI Ethernet Adapter. Uninstalled and reinstalled driver and it seemed to do the trick. Began having off and on prob's, now the Eth Adptr won't fire up at all. Any thoughts before I open her up and see if the hardware is replaceable?

Perhaps this should have been in "Hardware"?
