    Hi,
I access the net using a college LAN connection. 2 days ago, inexplicably, i couldn't access the net/internal sites. The connection icon near the clock shows "Connected, Speed 100MBPS" but i cant access any site. On clicking the connection icon, ive noticed that around 200 packets or so were sent in 10 minutes, but 0 packets were received. There is nothing wrong with the cable cuz the same cable connected to the same Lan Port works just fine if i use it on another computer. Please Help!!

First thing to do is check with your college network techs.

the techies are students who are elected; each hostel has 2 of them. both of them didn't have a clue as to whats wrong!

You should be able to go to the next level of tech if they don't know what is going on. College networks are getting more security conscious so it's hard to tell what measures they have in place that can affect your connection. (Elected Techs? rolleyes)

You can do some basic trouble shooting yourself by going here -

If you still have problems, post back with some more info - Op System, comp specs. Also, you could do an ipconfig /all from the command line and let us know the info that is shown there.
