I have an ECS P4N800PRO- M (v2) bios that has integrated LAN.

This morning I booted my Vista system & it could not connect to the internet. Checking around, I found that the BIOS no longer has the "enable/disable onboard LAN" options ...

The lights indicate that is it still working & still passing traffic.

As is the norm with an ECS system, I'm having trouble finding anything useful on their site.

I DID try to install the Vista driver, but as expected it did not install since it does not detect any networking hardware in the system.

So ... anyone know of any ECS diagnostics? Would forcing a BIOS flash make it re-examine itself to try to find the onboard LAN?

(To make the day more frustrating, I have a wireless USB NIC & a LNE 100TX v4 ... neither of which have Vista drivers!! I'm researching from my MUCH slower older system & having to download things to the network drive & then borrow my husbands computer to burn the info to CD to bring to my Vista system. Its driving me crazy!!)

(I realize that this might go under Networking, but since the problem is either the NIC itself or with the BIOS ... I thought that I'd try here first.)

    Thanks in advance!!

I was searching the web for the same problem of LAN disappearing from BIOS setup Menu with the SAME ECS Motherboard (actually it's P4M800PRO-M(Ver2). I believe it has more to do with corruption of values in BIOS.

My solution was as simple as RESETTING BIOS (jumpering MB BIOS CLR pins 2-3) with PC off and unplugged then resetting jumper pins back on BIOS CLR 1-2
and repowering PC back on. Then, select BIOS (DEL key) during power up and select LOAD OPTIMAL DEFAULTS and exit/save. When rebooting afterwards, you can change back to your selected options. Your Onboard LAN Option will
once again appear. ECS has posted a 2007 update for the Onboard LAN, so you may wish to update Driver from Hardware Devices Menu.

In addition, you might need to re-enable your Network under "Network Options" if using Win XP.
