    Hi,

I have two computers behind a router using a 192.168.x.x / 24 private address space.

Both computers are XP Pro (the laptop is media centre edition).

I'm able to access my shared drive on my laptop through my desktop computer, but when I try to access files from my desktop computer from my laptop, I get "you might not have permissions to use this network resource".

I've turned on netBIOS, added rules to my software firewall to allow file / print sharing and network browsing via my private address space.

Both computers are in the same workgroup.

    Any ideas?

Have you got the same account with same password with at least one log in on each comp?
    Double checked Windows firewall settings?

Both have only the administrator account which are the same name.

Neither have passwords to log in.

and yes, the firewall settings have been double checked, file and print sharing is ticked although the firewall on both computers is turned off.
