Re: Urgent help required for getting lan to USB converter driver

    Hi

There are 1000 & 1 listed downloads on the internet when you do a search for this device and NONE would I recomend as they are unknown sites and likely full of malware.

What I would suggest is in Device Manager do you have any yellow ! marks by any device, what I'm thinking of is that if the Chipset driver has not been installed then some hardware devices are not recognised.

Also when this device is plugged in that in Network Adapters or USB is there a new device listed with a yellow ! mark, if so then double click it to open properties, then click Details tab and then under property click Hardware lds in the drop down and copy and paste into your next post the top line of code, will look similar to this

    PCI\VEN_11AB&DEV_4364&SUBSYS_81F81043&REV_12

From this we may find the maker or a maker of this then the driver from their site.

Try installing the Chipset driver from HERE again and rebooting then plugging in this device.

Sadly with mass produced no - brand hadrwares like this is difficult to find drivers, just a question did your PC originally come with Win7 or Vista? and if Vista did this device work ir is this LAN to USB a new device not tried in any OS before.

Re: Urgent help required for getting lan to USB converter driver

    Thanks for your help.

Following is the hardware ID I got after going through the process described by you.

    USB\VID_0FE6&PID_8101&REV_0101
    USB\VID_0FE6&PID_8101

My PC originally come with Win7 (64 bit). THis is new device not tried before in any OS.

    Hi

Seems this device is a mass produced one from China from the large factory areas so come under a few makers names and all have no websites for drivers (they generally dont), there should have been a CD driver disk in the package from the pictures I have seen. Did you not get one?

The downside from what I have read from various forums and blogs is that this device has a controller chip that may not be compatible with Windows 7 64bit, but I did find a driver HERE and did test it out to see what it loaded, the loader is in Chinese as expected but was free of malware (see Jotti scan here).

See image attached of an install on a test PC of mine, it will have a yellow ! mark next to the driver as I do not have the device, but it shows the correct hardware lds

Hope this helps but sadly some mass produced random brands from China do have issues at times with driver support.

The proper driver is available in (for) Windows 7 and (???) by following the following sequence of events.
    1. Install the unit and go to device manage and select it.
    2. Select update driver
    3. Select browse my computer for driver software
    4. select let me pick from a list on my computer
    5. select Corechip Semiconductors and under Corechip select their USB to LAN device
This should load fine; also, this technique works fine for many that the drivers are not automatically loaded by Windows (any version).
