:confused I just accorded a new Laptop computer and I am wondering if I can take my DVD's and put them on the hard drive to watch when I am traveling or do I have to change out the disks? It has a dvd-rw built in. I really want to fix up an external hard drive with nothing but my music and movies like a media center, where I can one click a movie or a playlist style of music.
I can rip dvd's to temps and watch one sections at a time, but the is no file that lets you start and watch all the way through to "the end".

Yes, you can rip the main movie to the hard drive using your favorite ripping software (DVDFab and DVD43 are two good ones). You can then use your favorite DVD playing software (VLC Media Player and GOM Player are good) to open the IFO file or the first VOB file and the entire movie will play. But this takes up to 4.5gb of drive space per movie. It's much more time consuming, but after ripping the main movie to the PC, you can convert it to a MUCH smaller file format using Auto Gordian Knot to create an XviD file of about 700mb. After AGK has converted the movie to an XviD .AVI file, you can delete the ripped DVD files (the IFO and BUP and VOB files) to reclaim the space....
I hope this helps! Good luck!

(all the programs mentioned are freeware, except for maybe DVDFab; they used to have a free version and I'm not sure if they still do or not)
