Laptop Cannot Find Wireless Connection Only Works On Ethernet??

Hi. I have just purchased new broadband router and my laptop (Dell) can not find it wirelessly! I have tried everything, update adapter driver, uninstall driver, download latest driver, followed all advice re CMD checks etc etc...It works fine through ethernet and the last modem I had was phone line connected - never had a problem there with wireless. My other laptop has connected to this new modem and iphone has connected, so I can't understand what is wrong with this computer. The adapter on here is Dual Band-Ac 3160 (latest version). Is there something really stupid I am missing. Spent a whole day trying this and trying that. Would be really grateful for any advice.

Woohoo, by trial and tribulation and luck, to be sure, managed to sort it. Thought I would share the solve incase anyone else has the same problem. It's been 2 days of trying everything (am a rookie, sure) and have learnt a lot in the meantime, but still the solution was so bloody easy, freaks me out! Being a rookie, obviously I tried everything advised on tech sites and Dell etc etc. Anyway, something just triggered me to go to Device Manager AGAIN (about the 100th time) and have a look at network adaptor properties - advanced settings - wireless modes. There I see options, so I tried them all. Well it turns out that this network adapter Intel Dual Band-Ac1360 does not like the dual band width settings with this tp-link wireless modem but instead connected using 2.4 GHz 802 11/b/g and 802 11n. Disappointed that the network adapter site had no advice on this subject at all. Anyway, done and dusted, so just so as you know
