    Hi all,

I have a laptop (Dell inspiron E1505), that a buddy says he spilled beer on the table it was sitting on. He says it didnt get on the top of the laptop but more underneath on the table.

He pulled the battery and let it sit for a while and upon turning it back on the screen was very very dim and barely readable. I have taken the screen off and tried it with another screen and no change. Plugging into an external monitor yielded full working order.

The laptop shows no other signs of damage from the spill and I am not even sure the little amount spilled would have caused this problem.

    Any suggestions at all?

    Thanks for reading this..

It sounds like either the backlight or inverter has gone bad or isn't working. Try wiggling the connections between the LCD and the motherboard. If beer has gotten on the inverter you can take it out and give it an "alcohol bath". Use 90% or stronger. Odds are its dead though. But there fairly easy to replace.
