Laptop dont boot

I installed win7 on Acer Aspire5102...automatic update showed important update network Frame4.0 but cant install automatically..so i downloaded the file manually and trying to run laptop freezed i pressed the power button and try to restart nothing comes in monitor...fan is running hard disk light light up for 30 second then nothing happens....monitor is completely black like when it is off...tried pressing f8...f10... at boot up no success ..plz help:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry

 

update ...unplugged the power cable ..battery is almost dead now and its beeping

screen is totally black...i read somewhere that it will boot if u press power and press alt+Tab together...after 100 try it boots then showed bios information and showed message keyboard error and bios are in default.(sorry forget the error code)..then just hang there for hours i tried to power on again but no success...cant boot to safe mode...if i insert dvd it run for few seconds then stop nothing change in screen black like completely off...i am noob but i guess my bios has corrupted is there anyway to repair those bios?:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry:cry

 

Did you try low level formatting your hdd and try to reinstall your os?
If that doesn't work try flashing your bios with an earlier version (some bios will let you do that).

is low level formatting still possible..if yes how to do it?But first i wanna try bios flash first..is it just download a bios from Acer website and pressing Power+fn+esc?i will let you know the ....@plodr ..i open the back panel but cant find cmos battery anywhere..can u plz help?i wanna try changing cmos battery

 

Can someone help me out, is it posible for the bios to come up if the HD is shot? You could try popping out your hard drive and hooking it up to another pc to see if the hard drive works.

 

Hi,

It looks like the CMOS battery is the type that is soldered on to the board. I wouldn't replace that yet unless you know what you are doing.

There seems to be a common problem with that model laptop that has to do with the HD connection. I haven't had time to read through many threads these past few days to figure out what exactly causes the problem but I would try disconnecting the HD and trying to boot without it in order to see if there is any activity on screen other than blank.

Instructions for removing HD are here http://www.insidemylaptop.com/taking-apart-acer-aspire-5100-laptop/ Unplug and remove battery. Then it looks like it is only two screws to remove the HD cover from the bottom of the notebook.

 

Thanks Everyone for your help..sorry for late reply...now little update..i remove harddrive and try to boot no change..nothing happens not even a beep...then brother of mine pointed that CMOS battery was little bit loose i move it little bit and tried to boot nothing on sceen but new thing is hard drive light now running continuously it used to be hard drive light run for 30 second then it off...now its running may be good sign??My brother tried to solder the CMOS battery but it went bad cos small metal snake wire which touches the motherboard he burnt it now may be i need professional soldering person to solder it or anyone can help here...???/

 

To low level format your hdd you'll need a program to do it, i use killdisk http://www.killdisk.com/downloadfree.htm just download the free version and burn the iso file to a blank cd, it's an easy program to use
