Hello, Having issues with this for some time now. Seems my laptops DVD wont read anything. I have an Acer Aspire 5315. In the device Manager its listed as a MATSHITA DVD-RAM UJ870QJ ATA Device...Toshiba? Anyways when i insert a CD/DVD it just spins a sec, then clicks, spins, clicks..etc.
I do not have the system disk, I also lost my Vista disk, tho it is a legal and came with the lappy. I have gone to the acer site to look for drivers, but none of course for this hardware is listed. I'm usually pretty good at this stuff but I am stumped here!
Device manager also says its working properly....
any ideas, or anyone had the same issue?
Cheers, hope someone can help me out, ty in advance

If you CD drawer pops out you should be able to see the lens for the laser, visually inspect it and other coponents to check for food and drink spillage ect.

Give it a little clean with some lint free cloth and some mild cleaning solution such as cassette tape head cleaning solution, mild watered down alcohol or similar.
