Laptop forgetting time?

Hi, I have a problem with my laptop, every time I restart, the computer 'forgets' the time and I have to set it again and the icons that appear next to my clock have vanished, instead I get lots of blank spaces where they should be, anything that is there doesnt respond to clicks (volume control etc). Also, on startup I get presented with my BIOS options. This started after a problem with my adaptor. The pin that connects to my laptop would get VERY hot, i thought this was because of a dodgy battery so I removed the battery and it seemed to work ok. But the pin is also a bit loose so I accidentally cut the power to my machine a few times and on starting up (with the battery back in) I had this problem. I think I might have buggered the CMOS battery while messing around with the adaptor.

it sounds like you may need a new CMOS battery.

 

help dnt really know wat im doing but i have a laptop and i cant get it to come on, i cked the cord and its ok but just cant get it to come on at all
