    Update.
Froze again so I started using a laptop tray to help air flow.
I haven't had a crash for some time now.
I also kept speccy running in the background and kept an eye on the temperature when I opened browsers, watched vids etc.
The CPU temp went up to 108 degrees at one point.
Assuming it is a overheating issue (it may crash again, who knows?) I don't get why it has only happened since replacing the HDD.

Only other thing I can thin of is to reapply new thermal paste the the cpu and heat sink since it seems related to overheating. To verify you can run a good stress test such as the following:

Stress Test Your CPU - Prime 95
    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/16474-prime95-stress-test-your-cpu.html
    Select the Blended Test
Record maximum temperatures and duration of testing.
Best to test > 3 hrs and abort testing as needed for freezing, temperature changes, etc
Please use the Microsoft snipping tool to post images to your reply

Test ran for just over 3 hours.
    No issues
110 degrees was the max recorded by speccy

Maybe your cooling pad is helping then. I guess just continue to test and monitor your temps or try to see what you are doing right before it freezes.

Ok TJ. I'll see how it goes.

    Well, I give up.
All that time with no hassle, I start up this morning, cold environment, been browsing 10 minutes, CRASH!
The only thing I can do is get a HDD that matches the original and see what happens.
It's the only thing that changed before the trouble started.
If that doesn't work I'm clueless but I'll have plenty of storage :)

Sorry to hear, it is possible that the drive is bad but it passed all test. I recommend buying an SSD if you are going to replace. Samsung, Intel and Crucial are my recommendations. Keep me updated. When it crashed this time did it save and minidump files? If so, please upload for more analysis.

The procedure for finding and uploading the DMP files:
Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump and drag the contents to your desktop. If the minidump folder is not there or empty there may be a larger DMP file located at C:\WINDOWS called MEMORY.DMP which we can also use. If you have minidumps use them FIRST, andonly upload the full dump file (MEMORY.DMP) if there are no minidumps. The full memory.dmp is quite large so it is best to use file sharing such as dropbox, Google drive, etc and post the link.
