Good afternoon, Last night, while watching a video on youtube, my pc froze. I was unable to move the mouse or get any response from my keyboard and had to turn off the unit via the power button. When turning the pc back on in regular mode, I can use the pc for about one minute after logging into my windows screen. That is when it freezes again with the same symptoms. I am able to log into windows in safe mode with networking which is where I am presently. I plan to go through the steps in the majorgeeks malware removal guide, though I am skeptical malware is the cause. I feel I may be jumping to that conclusion out of optimism. If anyone has any thoughts and can point me to a different means of diagnosis with what little information I have to offer, I would be appreciative. I have an HP G62-435DX Notebook PC. I did attempt to restore to a previous known good login and the same problem occurred.

You guys have helped me before and I am appreciative of this service. Thank you.

We'd have to see your logs to rule out malware as the cause.

I understand. Thank you. I am following the steps for malware testing and am unable to complete the scan with RogueKiller. I am in safe mode and am not experiencing freezing except when scanning with RK. Each time it freezes, it appears to be scanning HP Wireless Assistant. I hope that helps.

My logs are attached. Please note I was unable to complete a scan with Rogue Killer, as I described in my previous post. Thank you for your help.

I am not finding any malware in your logs. I suggest you post in the software forum for additional assistance.

If you are not having any other malware problems, it is time to do our final steps:

    1. We recommend you keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for scanning/removal of malware.
    2. Renable your Disk Emulation software with Defogger if you had disabled it in step 4 of the READ & RUN ME.
    3. Go to add/remove programs and uninstall HijackThis. If you don't see it or it will not uninstall, don't worry about it. Just move on to the next step.
    4. If running Vista, Win 7 or Win 8, it is time to make sure you have reenabled UAC by double clicking on the C:\MGtools\enableUAC.reg file and allowing it to be added to the registry.
    5. Now goto the C:\MGtools folder and find the MGclean.bat file. Double click ( if running Vista, Win7, or Win 8 Right Click and Run As Administrator ) on this file to run this cleanup program that will remove files and folders related to MGtools and some other items from our cleaning procedures.
    6. Any other miscellaneous tools we may have had you install or download can be uninstalled and deleted.
    7. If you are running Win 8, Win 7, Vista, Windows XP or Windows ME, do the below to flush restore points:
      • Refer to the instructions for your WIndows version in this link: Disable And Enable System Restore
      • What we want you to do is to first disable System Restore to flush restore points some of which could be infected.
      • Then we want you to Enable System Restore to create a new clean Restore Point.

    8. After doing the above, you should work thru the below link:
