Laptop Frozen

I have an e machine that froze on a movie , wouldn't do a thing so I shut it down by holding the power button down until it shut down. I have shut down this way before so I didn't think anything about it. When I started I back up it went into a diagnostic mode and after about a hour it froze. Is there anyway I can reset this machine?

It's an E machine E528-2012 windows 10

 

This is a quite older machine. Which makes hardware and software suspect. W10 may not have generic drivers that work quite proper. There are times I've seen scripts on a webpage lock up a browser. Or simplest reason, a Celeron CPU lacks the cache to process high end streaming.

Due to the age of the machine. I would eliminate hardware as suspect first. This includes re-seating all attached hardware up to and including RAM modules, disconnecting external hardware, and if you can boot into Windows, a HDDSentinel drive analysis equivalent or better. That is to say, how many hours are on your hard drive and how healthy is it?

If you just want a clean install, then you'll need bootable media.
