Laptop HDD not accessible on Desktop

Hi there,

I have a problem with my laptop Packard Bell h530. The screen doesn't work anymore and the shop could not fix it so easely, so I asked them to put my HDD in an external enclosure.

While it detects the Harddrive and it is possible to to acces such files as WINDOWS PROGRAMME FILLES APPS etc, it is not possible to acces My Documents or any other files which where under my account. Whenever I click on a file or folder which is part of my USEr Account, is says that acces is denied. I also see that the file is 0 kb, while the proporties of the HDD state that only 2.3 GB of 53Gb is still available, which would indicate that all files are still in there.

I presume acces is denied beacuese my account was password protected on the laptop. My question is now: is there something I can do to fill out password, or any other way to acces these denied folders?

I have been able to get access to my files trough thanks trough other bits of information found on the webiste. Thank you very much for that majorgeeks.com

I was however shocked about the way I could do it. I nowhere had to give in the password of my username but could just do it by turning my PC in safe mode and then follow the procedures listed in other posts.

The frightening bit is that someone who stole my computer could do the same thing. A useraccount password is not worth much it seems.
