    toshiba sat laptop went dead been using ac for a while cause battery was not good friday the 13th and pop shut down put ac in in and lcd lights come on except battery sent away for a replacement and put it in nothing put ac in and light come on apart for battery one stays on amber does the new battery need charged silly question if so how would i get it charged

    If the replacement battery had no charge to begin with, it will take some time for it to gain a charge. Do so with the laptop turned off, the battery in place and the AC adapter plugged in. In order for the battery to become charged to full capacity, you may need to "cycle" it a few times — by that I mean charge then completely drain the battery then charge again. You'll be able to see the battery's state in Control Panel -> Power Options.
