Laptop keeps freezing

    Hi, I think there is something wrong with my browser as opposed to a hardware problem. Temperature doesn't appear to be the problem as it can freeze anytime, only solution then is to switch off & back on. Sometimes freezes straight away once logged on & other times works fine for hours, help!! The attached log is without disabling msconfig as not quite sure of what to disable. Thanks in advance for any help.

    Is this a different computer than in your other thread:

    No HJT logs should be posted with running standard cleaning procedures.

    Please follow the steps below:

    - Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

    Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

    - Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.


    After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis:

    Hi Chaslang, I had done most of the work last week similar to those posted on read me first, only one I had forgotten was view all files, my appologies, and no this is not the same computer but my daughter's. New log attached. Thanks again.

    "Similar to those posted on read me first"???? The READ & RUN ME must be run as it is written and following the steps in the order written. Please run them. Your log indicates that you have not run at least two of the online scanners.

    However your HJT log is basically clean. Are you still having problems with the Laptop freezing? Exactly when does it occur? Do you have to be connected to the inernet or does it even happen when offline? This does not sound like malware.

    Hi Chaslang, From what my daughter told me, I thought that it froze when she was on line (hours on MSN chat, I don't even know how to use it!!). This has happened while I have been on the net using Internet Explorer. Although I have now come accross two more different instances:

    1- It froze after being turned on showing the desktop icons but couldn't get mouse or CTL-ALT-DEL function. Her set up is with msn signing on screen at start.

    2- I have also had a blue screen whlie on the net with two different messages
    a) IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    ***stop: 00x0000000A (oxD7A0D6C6,0x00000002, 0x00000001, 0x80
    b)DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
    ***STOP: 0x000000D1 (0xDA27D5, 0x000000FF, 0x00000000, 0xC0DA27D5

    The last two look like nothing to do malaware, I think probably software/hardware issues. Will have to start logging each fault & see if there is a common solution.

    Thanks again Chaslang. This is obviously going to be long trial & error process having had a quick search on IRQL problems.
